OK... last day in Sydney. What do we do?

Well, it starts like any other day ---
with brekky.

Except this morning, we decide to stroll further, north on George Street....

...several blocks from the Grace Hotel...

...past several 7 Eleven stores....

...back to The Rocks....

for some pancakes! :)

Let's see... what shall we have?

ice cream, pancakes and chocolate fudge?

or ice cream, pancakes and strawberries?

or ice cream, pancakes and banana?

What do you think Max?

Something normal, she decides.
For Stasha, something different.
For me, DESSERT! :)~~

It's called the Hot'N Troppo - pancakes, chocolate ice-cream, bananas, & walnuts with a dab of hot fudge. :) A$10.95

And a Flat White. A$2.95

No, I didn't finish.

After packing in all those calories, it was time to burn a couple.

Max broke away and headed to the beaches one last time. Stasha and I checked out the weekend street market just outside the pancake restaurant.

I bought a couple of rings, dried fruits...

... and some roo and crocodile jerky.

Curious.

Tastes like... salted meat.

Grabbed a lemonade, headed around the corner to get a few souveniers, and walked back to Circular Quay to catch a taxi (A$11.50) to The Sydney Fish Market. I hear it's got a great selection of seafood.

We came upon a huge blue building... looked like a warehouse. Didn't seem like much from the outside.

We stepped inside to a small grocery of familiar fruits and veggies... and then some odd looking ones.
Around the corner and to the right was a mini-market of nuts, jams, pastas and more.

And then to the left....

Ahh... seafood galore.

Remember them Yabbies we came across during the hike through the Blue Mountain Grand Canyons?

Check this video out... a man shucks an oyster in 8 seconds!
Video requires QuickTime ..

Seafood take-away!

A sign hang over Christie's deli: "Seafood Retailer of the Year" -- and no wonder why...

A man ordered a mud crab -- the lady walked over to the crab tank, pulled out a live one, weighed the thing, and the man paid for it. Then the lady said, "Please have a seat. It will be ready in about 15 minutes."

Back outside, more seafood stores!

Even across the parking lot!

Seafood deli's... here and there.
I was getting hungry.

Stasha's not a seafood lover. But we did find a place that had pizza!

And ginger beer... like root beer... but ginger. Tastes like.. ginger soda. :) Pretty good. I'll consider having that with my next meal.

Meanwhile, I had a refreshing lemon soda to go with my little sample plate:

- baked oyster with creamy sauce
- raw oyster topped wtih bacon chunks
- scallop

Not fabulous, but not bad.

Then I remembered Mom's special request: abalone sauce -- supposedly like oyster sauce, but with an enhanced flavor, and it's THE sauce, only from Aussie.

So we looked, and asked the people working there... who pointed us to this shop and that shop... but no one seemed to carry the stuff. Maybe it's not that popular. Oh well. Carry on.

Stasha and I continued strolling through the streets of Sydney.

A couple on the Bridge Climb yesterday mentioned an "Aussie Rules" football game at 1pm today. It's about that time right now, but we probably won't make it to the game.

Anyways, it took us a while, and almost went the wrong way, but we came to the popular Paddy's Market.

Inside was a good sized flee market... cheap clothes, luggage, jewelry....

and another seafood store in the corner, just behind a ~ 3000 sq ft area of fruits and veggies.

At one point, I tried to take a picture of cheap luggage for Max in case she needed one, but the lady there at the booth starting getting nervous and called out to husband and then gave me the signal of "no picture!"

Came upon an opal booth where a guy claimed to prepare the stones from his garage, justifying his low price.

Anyways, cheap. So I bought a pendant. :)

Back outside, I see this sign:

My fellow refugees... does this name sound familiar to you?

Next stop, Chinatown.

It took us a while to find these two blocks of culture, nestled in Downtown. We had circled Chinatown a couple times.

Lots of great bakeries -- much like Richmond, BC. And a cool gate... but not much happening.

So we continued walking....

...past the Sydney Entertainment Center...

... and arrive at...

We had just missed 4:30's tea time. But that's okay... I think I've still got some Oolong at home.

Lots of beauty for me to photgraph anyway...

Back in a corner, visitors posed for photographs wearing traditional Chinese gowns.

We went through the garden pretty quick. Back outside the gates, a small Thai festival was happening across the park. We walked through the festival, though the city, and back to the hotel where we met up with Max again.

6:30pm - Time for a quick rest, as we're a little buggered.

Ok... let's go.

Tonight we head back to alley of Chinatown for some grub.

As we seat ourselves for dinner, a guy plays his white clarinet.
We eat at Dixon. From the menu we ordered:

Kangaroo in XO sauce,
egg omelette,
and a seafood mix.

I tried to order a little abalone, but they ran out.

Dinner wasn't bad... except Max found a piece of hair in her seafood mix, so we returned it for a re-stir.

For desert... well, back to Gellatissimo, of course!

Bought along our Outback friend, Mr. Roo. :)

After, satisfying our sweet desires, we pass a few reminders of home...

...and headed over to the Sydney Tower to use our ticket from Tuesday...

We went on the Oztrek ride, which was a mini-Imax theatre and a cool 3-D demo of Aussie.

This is our last night here in Sydney. So instead of showing us what we could've been doing (diving with sharks, white-water rafting, etc.), we saw what we missed out on.

Oh well... all the more reasons to save up for my next trip to Sydney. ;)

This dress...

Every evening, just before arriving at the Grace, we passed by this dress behind this window at the Queen Victoria Building, and I thought, maybe I should get it.

I didn't get it.

But might as well take a picture of it.

:)

10:10pm - back at the Grace for a final night's rest in Sydney.

By the way, Happy Easter Sunday! :)

Tomorrow, we hop on over to Tassy....
